Letter on behalf of 50 MEPs to the Govt. of Honduras regarding human rights violations

Honourable President of the Republic of Honduras Mr. Juan Orlando Hernández,

Honourable Ambassador of the Republic of Honduras to the European Union Mr. Roberto Ochoa Madrid,

On behalf of the undersigning Members of the European Parliament, we would like to forward you a pressing letter regarding the concerns expressed by the EU Delegation to Honduras and the UN High Commissioner on Human Rights regarding attacks on human rights defenders.

By means of this letter, we wish to encourage the Government you preside to swiftly implement comprehensive mechanisms to effectively protect human rights defenders as a fundamental step in the consolidation of the Honduran democracy based on the principles of justice and rule of law.
